General: The
CEM Mars Microwave Digester is
available to all members of the Stanford community. This is an user-run
instrument. Before signing up, users must
participate in a training session on the
instrument and be certified by a facility technician. Once certified, users planning to
run samples must sign up on the Scheduler. In
addition, all users must fill out the user log book each time the machine is
operated. The
user operation protocol and user log book can be found next to the Mars.
Users must wear safety
gears while operating this instrument because of the highly dangerous
chemicals used.

Operation: The is
available for use by certified users Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.
Once certified, arrangements can be made to use this machine during off
hours.

Cost: The
instrument has a set fee of $10 per run.
Each run can digest up to 40 samples. Users must have
a valid Stanford PTA to sign up for this instrument.

Additional Notes:
Please remove your samples promptly from the instrument upon completion.
Clean and return all vessels to EM1 immediately after the completion
of using the instrument. Users are responsible for notifying an EM1 technician in the case of a
problem. If you have a concern, please notify an
EM1 technician.
